The national organisation of trainee diabetologists
is the Young Diabetologists & Endocrinologists Forum (YDEF) and ABCD works
closely with YDEF - a member of the YDEF committee sits on the
ABCD committee to advice on matters pertaining to the
interests diabetes trainees. Diabetes trainees are
encouraged to attend all ABCD meetings and particularly to
submit abstracts for posters on any subject of interest in
the field of diabetes, endocrinology or general medicine.
ABCD organises an annual SpR meeting which immediately
follows the autumn meeting of the association.
ABCD organises a mentorship programme to help support newly
appointed consultants and a retreat for new consultants to
help them come to grips with the aspects of consultant life
that are not part of the standard SpR teaching curriculum.
Diabetes trainees who join ABCD using the direct debit form
are offered the first year subscription free.
